Jesus Revolution - The Beginning of CCM - Contemporary Christian Music

In this post we are reminiscing about the Jesus Music that changed a generation by reaching young people, former hippies and new Jesus Freaks, who would connect with their Christian Faith in new songs and lyrics. Let's look back from 1969-79 & 1980-1989.




In the Jesus Revolution Movie, Kelsey Grammer plays Pastor Chuck Smith who founded Calvary Chapel in Santa Mesa California. He and his wife Kay had a young high school age daughter who wanted her dad to understand and connect with her generation. If you saw the movie, Love Song is introduced as a young group of Jesus Freak/hippie musicians who wrote songs of their newly found faith in Jesus. In August 2009 this video captured the real Pastor Chuck Smith introducing Love Song for a reunion concert at Calvary Chapel.
